"Songs of the Oregon Trail" is
solid Americana in nature, with adult and family themes, and
features McNevin's trademark storytelling. Songs include "Willie" (a
gold miner Michael met while camping in the High Sierra), "Harriet" (an
11 year old girl who walks the Oregon Trail with her family in
1852), "Critter Stew" (a cut-up on the pioneer diet), "Man
On The Levee" (a man playing trumpet on the Sacramento river
on 4th of July), "On THe Banks of the Little Blue" (a wagon
train settling down for the night in the plains), and "Up
on a Hill" (traveling a very long way). This 6-song CD was
created for The Learning Company to accompany the Oregon Trail
Learing Software. Recorded in the summer of 2000, it went in
the software box as an "Artistic Perk" for customers
across the US. It is just a music CD, written and produced by
Michael.
