McNevin Spring 2019, Niles, WoodFlock, and Texas In June

More McNevin Gigs, Spring 2019

Hello friends and neighbors! It'll be Busy Muddy Festy this weekend in Niles, and a beautiful time next weekend in the Sierra Nevada foothills at The Woodflock Festival. On tap for this weekend are Two afternoon Mudpuddle jam thangs, an annual Spring Fest & Garden Tour, and a Federico’s brunch music blowout. The afternoon Mudpuddle jams are Sat 2-5pm & Sun Noon-4pm. All pickers and listeners welcome to pop in anytime. Coinciding with the Mudpuddle Sunday Jam in Niles is the Annual Spring Fest & Garden Tour, 10am-3pm Sun May 19th, includes Open Gardens and Open Studios all over town and the neighborhood. And, then there’s a Federico's Sunday music lineup on their back patio, Noon-5pm, celebrating their new All-Day brunch service. Rob Cassidy is hosting that. A McNevin set is indeed scheduled for that Federico’s line up DURING the Mudpuddle Jam. How? Well, that is whereby I skips OUT of the Sunday Mupduddle Jam at 1:20, do a 1:25-1:55 set at Federcio’s down the street, then sprint back to the puddle, as Los Horribles keep the muddy fires burnin till i get back (or I’ll just close the shop doors for a half hour?). Lots to do, rain or shine. Part of the Federico’s crowd will likely pop into the puddle as a 2nd Roof, a Green Room, a new place to hang, or a place to dry out, etc.

And After this weekend, if you’re wondering what to do on Memorial Day Weekend, come to WoodFlock with us! McNevin & McClellan, Antsy McClain & The Trailerpark Troubadours, Rachel Garlin, Late For The Train, Sourdough Slim, and other camp pickers. Campfire concerts, workshops, great community dinners and breakfasts included, about 100 of us tent and car camping, RV-ing, and using the no-extra-charge cabins. There's a big comfy lodge there too, so if any cold weather comes up, not a problem for the shows and gatherings, and Cribbage.

Also heading to Texas for some festival and gigging fun in a few Weeks! I'l be spending a week at the Kerrville Folk Fest May 28 - June 6, picking around the fires. Then I head up to Winnsboro and Dallas for concerts on June 8th and 9th - Sat Night at the famous Bowery Stage, and a Sunday 4pm House Concert at dear friend Kendra Kilgore Terry's place. What a life, I need a nap! No wait, just gimme coffee.

Get Muddy. ~ Michael.

Acoustic Jam at The Mudpuddle Shop.
Listeners and pickers pop in anytime, Americana/Folk, songwriters, jamming. This one is casual, and slated for mostly Upbeat tunes. Lean toward stuff that the electric, snare, bass, keys, harmony vocals can hang with. ‘Special guests' and accidental tourists are part of it. Ballads are great too, and, your ballad may have a back up band. Drop something in the donation baskets for shop rent. Come and go as you please. 37433 Niles Blvd Fremont CA. Here's the FB event link to join, share, invite:

The Mudpuddle Shop
Song Swap & Etch A Sketch Art at The Mudpuddle Shop
This Sunday in Downtown Niles, Noon-4pm, the Mudpuddle Shop hosts an afternoon song swap and jam. Pickers and listeners welcome anytime. Drop a few bucks in the baskets. Musicians, listeners, gardeners, art lovers, foodies, and fans, the town will be hopping. Hit The Mudpuddle Shop Noon-4pm for song swapping and I’ll have my original Etch A Sketch Art (the real toys not prints), up as part of Open Studios. Hit the Niles Spring Festival and Garden Tour 10am-3pm (downtown vendors, open studios, and a map to showcasing gardens around our neighborhood). Hit Federico's new Brunch service and an all-day music line up Noon-5pm. Pick or listen, digest your brunch, wander town, play til the cows go home. The other doings in town on Sunday are easy to walk to from The Mudpuddle Shop, 37433 Niles Blvd Fremont CA.

Sun May 19th, Noon-5pm
Federico's Brunch and all day Music Line-Up.
Between the jamming and swapping at the Mudpuddle Shop, at about 1:15, McNevin will skip over to Federico's for a 1:25-1:55 set on their patio. Rob Cassidy is currating that line up, and an RSVP for Brunch then, or before, is a good idea. OR - just drop in for a more casual mimosa or beer at the patio bar, no RSVP required for that. The Federico's Music Line-Up runs Noon-5pm. RSVP for a food seat is wise, brunch seating limited, filling up fast. Patio bar is more casual, but may also be thick too, pop in and find out.

Here's the Federico's Lineup.
Noon: Kick Off Toast, Rob Cassidy hosts
12:15: Steve Burch & Duane Andrews
12:50: Alexandra Christ
1:25: Michael McNevin
2:00: Gary Oliveira
2:35: Bob Peek
3:10: EMC (Robert Cassidy Jeff Carr Joe Melchior III)
4:00: Flynn Martin (Eileen Bell, Dave Peterson)
4:50: Gratitude catch

NOTE: While McNevin hosts the Mudpuddle Jam in the middle of town, he also plays at Federico's for a 1/2 hour set, 2:25-2:55. A gang of Los Horribles musician friends and guests will likely be holding down the fort at the Puddle till he gets back. If not, the shop will close for 30 minutes during McNevin's jaunt over to the Federico's stage, at the end of town. Federico's is near the corner of Niles Blvd and J St, next to the carwash.

NOTE: If it does rain, or if the Noon-5 Federico's brunch musician line-up and diners need to free up seats and tables for more Federico's brunch service, folks are welcome to hit the Mudpuddle as a 2nd roof and 'green room' option before or after your brunch or music set. Do RSVP with Federico's, and make a day of it.

Campers, RVers, flamingo heads. Memorial Day Weekend outside of Chico, at the edge of Lassen National Park, is a thing called "WoodFlock". It's an "Aluminum Oasis", as it were :). Full of fans and "Flamingoheads" of the famous and friendly Trailer Park Troubadours Band. Antsy McClain and band headline, with a cool smattering of songwriters adding to the evening shows and workshops. This is McNevin & McCellan's 3rd year playing it. The one and only Sourdough Slim is also on the roster this year, a CLASSIC yodeling cowboy savant. New guests for the line up include Rachel Garlin and "Late For The Train" (Laura Benson and Dave Pascoe). Pickers and listeners populate the campground for music making, workshopping a bit, writing a bit, jamming, swapping, and cribbage matches of course. Includes a chili cook-off Sat night, crafts, and a campsite decorating contest, BYO Pink Flamingos. A nice mix of mischief, lazy afternoons, folk and friendship under the trees with about 150-200 folks. Intimate, affordable, great group breakfast and dinners included. Easy to get in and set up with cars, tents, trailers and RVs, and cabins to grab too (no extra charge, first come first serve). Family friendly. No pets.

NOTE: Cabins available at no extra $ - First come first serve, might wanna message Antsy to grab one if it's imperative. Good community meals included.

NOTE: We can now arrive early on Thursday if we wanna, it's all good, so make a 4-day weekend out of it and avoid some of that getaway Friday traffic!
